Welcome to the Louisville Area Woodturners (LAW) website.
Our club was founded in October 1995 and is affiliated with the American Association of Woodturners (AAW). The primary purposes of LAW are to provide information, education, and organization to those interested in woodturning. The membership is drawn from, but not limited to, all towns and communities surrounding Louisville, Ky.
We generally meet on the second Thursday of each month (with a few exceptions, for professional demonstrators), at 6:30 pm til 8:30 pm, at Walden School. 4238 Westport Rd., Louisville, Ky 40207. Dates are subject to change to accomidate guest turners from out of town. A few times a year we have meetings at Walden School on Saturdays for longer professional demostrations. Keep an eye on our calendar for upcoming events.
Our next meeting will be on Friday, May 17th. This is our rescheduled meeting from last week. Bob Faletti and Robin Costelle are going to collaborate on a lidded container for Beads of Courage. Come out on Friday and join the fun. By the way-this Friday the 17th was the only alternative for Walden school so we decided to just take it and see who comes.

Our rescheduled Big Gallery meeting will be on Thursday, June 14th. This will be a regular Thursday night meeting-only with a twist.
This is going to be our big Show-n-Tell-Super-Sized! Everyone is invited to bring in some of their art and craft to show off a bit. And please feel free to invite all your friends, relatives, co-workers, chuch members and whomever you think might be interested.
A member of the Kentucky Arts Council will also be attending and other local gallery owners. This will be a good event to show off our clubs talents and maybe even recruit a few new turners.
Snacks and drinks will be served as well. 6:30pm at Walden School.
If time permits we may have a short turning demonstration to show a bit more about our craft. Come join the fun.

BEADS of COURAGE: We started a Club Challenge last summer. David Weller and his wife Kari, are collecting 'Beads of Courage' boxes for children to keep glass beads in. They earn the beads thruough medical procedures. Our club members brought in several beautiful boxes for this cause. This is an ongoing project. Anyone can bring in a box at any meeting. The typical size is 5 or 6 inches in diameter and 3 or 4 inches deep (minimun dimensions). "Beads Of Courage", should be embossed on a loose fitting lid somehow (burning, painting, sharpie, etc...). We would like to thank everyone who participates in this event.
CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS: We had a good finish to the Christmas Ornament drive this year. We are still collecting Christmas ornaments for Kosair for next year. Bob Faletti is gathering up the ornaments to be sold at Kosair's annual Christmastime fundraiser. We would like to thank everyone that supported this effort!!
LIBRARY:Don't forget to bring back our DVD's. and if anyone has any used DVD's for our library, we'd be glad to except your donation. Thanks to Mike Lyons for keeping our library alive and vibrant.
